OUR VISION
FACE works to safeguard children, by addressing their needs and working with their communities to create practical, innovative and sustainable solutions to ensure them a better future.
OUR MISSION
FACE's mission is to assist and protect orphans, street children, their families and communities in Egypt regardless of race, culture or religion. FACE endeavours to equip these children for a better life, to instil them with self esteem and hope by providing them with the means to become strong adults in society.
FACE avoids giving simply to appease its social conscience and sees how giving often perpetuates need, thus sustaining poverty rather than alleviating it. For this reason, FACE strives to reduce poverty and increase social reintegration by effectuating long-term projects that target the needs of the children and those of society as a whole.
FACE's projects are strategically developed to provide sustainable results and are child-led. We value the children's opinions and ideas, and because we listen to them and work with them, they develop a sense of ardour and responsibility. All FACE projects abide by the UN Convention for the Rights of the Child.
FACE's goals are to:
- Satisfy their basic needs (food, health, security).
- Provide a warm and caring environment.
- Provide medical and psychological support.
- Provide access to education and skills.
- Assist with familial and social reintegration of the children.
- Provide a listening body for children to voice their needs and goals, and to be supported in attaining them.
- Ensure their own cultures and rituals are explored and understood to increase social acceptance.
- Nurture self-reliance, preparing them for risks they may face (HIV, drugs, violence, all types of abuse).
- Encourage creativity through many art and theatrical based projects.
