*HUMANITARIAN MISSION 2008
From 11 to 16 September 2008, FACE organised, with the help of a team of 8 doctors and nurses from the CHR hospital of Namur, 3 days of free medical consultations as well as a second evaluation of maternal needs in the slum of Ghoussous. The Objective of this evaluation was to better assess and define the medical needs of children, but also to involve the local population as of the start of the project by asking them their opinion and to hire the workforce on site. This project must be organised by, for and with the population of Ghoussous.
*HUMANITARIAN MISSION 2005
In November 2005, a team of doctors and nurses from the CHR in Namur, who are specialised in pre-natal care, went to Cairo with the founder of FACE. This humanitarian action was organised by FACE after a request for medical material by the Egyptian Ministry of Health.
«November 2005, we are four nurses and four paediatricians from the C.H.R. hospital of Namur returning from Cairo. We are not the same anymore as when we went there initially . The medical challenge for FACE is not to pay the umpteenth incubator, it is much more important. it tries in a humble and diplomatic way to teach the deep meaning of five words: empathy, compassion, organisation, knowledge and training.
Teaching how to give as much love as care, as much tenderness as perfusions, as much humanity as medicines. The smile of a single child fully justifies that challenge and there, we found many thousands!
Our thanks go to FACE for letting us grow up a little. We will not leave it there !»
Dr Jean Evrard, Chief Paediatrician from the CHR hospital of Namur
