I support Flavia's work with much admiration for her but also for her husband, who collaborates to her effort with much discretion and who accepts to share his family with the children of Cairo.

We do not choose our vocation; it is it that chooses us. Flavia responded to this calling with a lot of talent, remarkable intelligence and much humility. She provides the funding and the means to run the orphanages by collaborating with local authorities and, working  with a dedicated team, she retains the utmost modesty and reserve.The quality of a gesture towards other people is so valuable when there is no expectation of anything in return. Flavia's work has affected many people.

During the Pharaohs' Rally, my wife and I went to see the orphanage in Maadi. I know how it was before, I saw how it was after: she did a magnificent job. When I can, I am available to help her, depending on my means. Flavia is on the road of a long journey. It is the work of a lifetime, we need her accomplishments to grow, we need many people to become sponsors of this cause. I was introduced 20 years ago to Africa, in the largest sense of the word. It was an emotional choc which broadened my horizon considerably.

"Doctora,Doctora"  he came running towards me,and then he held my hands and looked at me with his big brown eyes and his  hands full of dirt and laughed at me saying  "Hahahaha,  your hands are  full of germs because I touched you before washing my hands.   So do you  know how to kill these germs ?  I will tell u we can kill them by soap and water ,  yalla ya doctora we have to go and wash our hands with soap and water to kill the germs,and I have to  warn u if u don't  wash your hands you will get sick."

We went to wash our hands and while we were drying our hands he looked at me and said  " Do you know how I know all these things about germs? I will tell u, after the self hygiene talk we had last week I watched the dr on t.v. talking about germs and how they can make us sick and how we can kill them. Now when any dr comes on t.v. I sit and listen to him very well so when we sit here together to talk about germs and cleanliness I can say something correct infront the other children."  

I asked him" and before our talk about self hygiene you did not watch the dr on t.v." He answered   "Ofcourse not I did not know that there was something called a germ in the first place , I left school when I was 7 years old and home as well because my stepfather was beating me  to prevent me from studying because he was jealous of me. I used to pass and score high grades and his nephew failed  in many subjects , whenever he saw my report card he would start scolding me on anything and starts beating me .So one day I was going back home with my report card and then I remembered that he will beat me up so I decided not to go back home and stayed on the street" His friends came in and he told them that he was teaching me about germs and then looked at me and asked " Can I lead a talk about the germs to teach the other children what I know , You know one should share his knowledge with everyone else and not be selfish " He was so happy when I told him he will be leading the next talk and started showing off infront of his friends and telling them how he convinced me .
