Organizational Structure of FACE

  • The founder of FACE, Flavia Shaw Jackson, works from FACE Belgium together with a team of 2 employees and twenty dedicated volunteers to raise awareness of FACE, source funding for the projects in Egypt, organize events, find sponsorship and partners whilst developing communications, accounting and administration.

  • Flavia visits Cairo every 1 - 2 months and is in daily contact with the FACE teams in Egypt to follow all aspects of the projects and the children. There are close controls and systems in place and the overall decision making is managed by Flavia together with the Egyptian director.

  • Each project has a project director as well as a dedicated team of staff employed to take care of the babies and work with the children. FACE is committed to providing the best training possible for all staff in every FACE project.

  • FACE works towards long term sustainability by employing only staff of Egyptian nationality to work on each of the projects. The number of staff currently employed by FACE in Egypt is 90. Furthermore, FACE is encouraging donors residing or investing in the Middle East to take part in supporting the projects to ensure project financial sustainability.

  • FACE has clearly defined reporting lines, well communicated job descriptions to all staff, regular staff meetings, a comprehensive evaluation and reward system, tailored training programmes at all levels of the organisation, a strong focus on team building, as well as overall clarity of mission and objectives.

  • Weekly and bi-weekly meetings are held with the core team of each project (director, project manager, head mother and paediatrician) and the FACE director to address any issues and ensure the smooth running of the projects. Minutes of the meetings are sent to Brussels and London the same day for immediate decisions and actions to be taken.

  • All expenditure is estimated in advance. At the beginning of every month, detailed forecasts of all expenses for that month (by project and for the office in Cairo) are sent to the Brussels office for approval by the founder. At the end of the month, details of actual expenses are sent to Brussels.
